Copying data and pasting it into a spreadsheet can be a pain if the data does not separate neatly into columns. Google Sheets now has a feature that allows you to split data from one column across multiple columns.
Data can be split using a contextual menu that appears immediately after you’ve pasted data.
After clicking on "Split text to data," a menu will appear allowing you to split the data using commas, semicolons, periods, spaces, and even custom separators.
If you miss the initial contextual menu, you can still get to that menu. Select the columns you want to split, and click
Data > Split text to columns. The menu will appear underneath the data, allowing you to split the data.
