32 Bit Apps will officially die on Apple Macbooks and iMacs with updating to version 10.15
No official date of release, but almost certainly in October 2019.

What does that mean? It means that any app that has not been updated to 64 bits will no longer run on your computer.
What can you do when 32 bit apps stop working? nothing. What can your tech department do when 32 bit apps stop working? nothing. The only way an app will work is if the Developer makes sure that it has been programmed as 64 bit.
How do you know which of your apps will stop working? You can check now to see if an app is 32 bit or 64 bit using the instructions below.
Is this a "done deal"? That is hard to say. In the tech world, sometimes these announcements are made then pulled back because of user backlash.
Some of my 32 bit Apps are Apple apps. What about those? I believe Apple will either force update those apps or notify you of an update when necessary.
How to check your Mac for 32-bit apps before Apple drops support:
- In the top left corner, click on the logo while holding down the Option key on your keyboard.
- While continuing to hold down the option key, click on "System Information" listed at the top of the dropdown menu.
- Scroll down on the left sidebar until you get down to Software. Expand the menu if necessary, and then tap the Applications option. It may take a few moments for it to load, especially if you have a ton of apps.
- Up top, there is a menu option (way over to the right) to sort by 64-Bit (Intel). Click on that, and you’ll now have a list of apps that aren’t 64-bit (that are 32-bit only). The 32-bit apps will be labeled No instead of Yes.
