Funky Fun on Your Macbook: Change Desktop Folder Images to Your Own Custom Icons

Is your Macbook desktop getting boring? Spice it up with your own custom icons!

  • Choose the image you want to use to replace a folder image
  • Double click to open it in Preview
  • Copy the image
  • Highlight the folder you want to change by clicking on it once
  • Choose File > Get Info (or command I on your keyboard) to open the folder information dialog box
  • In the folder information dialog box, highlight the folder in the upper left and paste (Command V) the image you copied.

Change your mind? 
You can easily restore your icons back to the default image.
  • Highlight the folder you want to change back to the default.
  • Choose File > Get Info (or command I on your keyboard) to open the folder information dialog box.
  • In the information dialog box, click on folder preview in the top left corner.
  • While the preview is highlighted, hit delete (or backspace ← ) on your keyboard.
