Do you need to keep track of meetings even if you are unable to attend? Do you reply that you plan to attend or are undecided just to keep the event showing on your calendar?
If either of these describe you, then head into your calendar settings to make sure the events you are invited to show on your calendar and stay listed on your calendar even if you are not able to attend.
Go to your Calendar Settings by clicking on the gear in the upper right and choosing Settings in the dropdown menu.
These are the settings for the calendar platform.
To make sure all events you are invited to show on your calendar:
On the left, choose Events from Gmail
Check the box next to Automatically add events from Gmail to my calendar.
To make sure your calendar is set to show declined events:
On the left, choose View options
Check the box next to Show declined events
When replying to an invitation, if you choose "maybe" then the event will show on your calendar with diagonal lines through it.
If you decline an invitation, the event box will show as transparent with the name of the event crossed out on your calendar.
To easily change your response, change the color, or remove an individual event from your calendar, Control click on the event for a list of options.
IF YOU ARE CREATING AN EVENT, BE SURE TO SEND EMAIL INVITES TO ALL YOUR GUESTS. This is important because getting a few extra emails is preferable to missing an important meeting!
