A Google Classroom shell is a Google Classroom created with no students invited. In the shell, you assign assignments, materials, questions, etc. as templates. Once you've created templates in the shell, you can reuse posts from the shell from week-to-week, class-to-class, or even year-to-year.
How to Create a Google Classroom Shell:
- Create a Google Classroom and do not invite any students.
- Create assignments, questions, materials, and quizzes "templates". Title each with an easy to edit naming convention or code. This will help you when you reuse your post in a current Google Classroom.
- Once your shell is created, go to one of your current Google Classrooms, and in the Classwork tab, click Create. Select, Reuse post.
- Choose your class shell and select from the template assignments you created.
- Once you've selected your template assignment, edit the title, instructions and details for your current class.
- You can also assign to multiple classes. If you create templates with documents, when you reuse them, new copies of the documents will be made as well.
