Google Calendar now has 6 entry types: Events, Focus time, Out of office, Task, Reminder and Appointment slots.
Events are for scheduling one-time activities, such as conferences, as well as recurring events, such as staff meetings. In addition to adding guests, Google Meet conferencing, rooms, descriptions and/or attachments, you can now start meeting notes right from within the calendar event!
Focus time is so you can block out and protect your time for heads-down individual work. Similar to the Out of office event type, focus time has a different appearance on your calendar and includes the option to automatically decline conflicting events.
Out of Office is where you can indicate when you will not be at work, then any meetings during that time will be automatically declined, and additional meetings you're added to while you're out will be declined, and whoever invited you will be notified.
Task is simple to use and allows you to list one or more items to be done. Once added to your calendar, tasks also show up on your Task sidebar in Gmail. Task is great for lists. For example, you might use a Task to add all the things you need to do in preparation for a meeting.
Reminder is where you add items or events you want to be reminded about until completed. Reminders repeat every day, or on a schedule that you choose, or until you mark them as done. Reminders are private and cannot be shared with others.
Appointment Slots are blocks of appointments on your calendar that other people can reserve. Appointment slots are useful when you don't know who needs to meet with you, but you want to make yourself available. You can offer people a block of time on your calendar that they can book time slots within. For example, you can set aside 2 hours that you're available to meet with people in 30-minute slots. Others can then book one of the 30-minute slots within that time that works best for them.
