Reading Mode in Google Chrome

Get rid of the clutter and customize your reading experience on Google Chrome with Reading mode. This feature allows you to focus more easily on text by reducing distractions from images and videos on the screen and providing options for a more visually enjoyable reading experience.

Using the Reading Mode menu, users can:
  • Select alternate typeface and font size
  • Adjust letter and sentence spacing
  • Choose a background color

To get stared, choose the webpage you want to read, right click or control click, then choose Reading mode in the pop-up menu. For a larger reading pane, slide the vertical bar to the left.

  1. Is it possible to print the reading mode version of a web page? That would be very handy when sharing articles with students.

  2. Unfortunately there is no way to print the reading mode version. I typically look for a print icon (when available) for a cleaner print version.
