Getting Started With Google Vids

Google Vids simplifies video creation, from basic screencasts to professional-looking productions, and is readily available for students and staff within Google Drive! 

Getting started

Open Google Vids on your computer.

  • Record
    • Use the Vids recording studio to capture yourself (audio and/or video), your screen, or your surroundings.
      • Open the Recording Studio by clicking "Record" in the pop-up menu.
      • Choose Recording Type by selecting "Camera" or "Screen Recording."
      • Click "Record now" and then "Start" to start recording
      • Preview and Edit. Review your recording, make adjustments, and then insert it into your video.
  • Start from Scratch
    • Begin directly on the Vids timeline and add content as needed. You can still use the recording studio later.
  • Use a Template
    • Select a pre-built template with scenes, media, and transitions. Customize it to fit your needs.
  • Upload Your Own Content
    • Start with your own files (images, videos, etc.) and add other elements later.
