Interactive Questions for YouTube Videos in Google Classroom

Turn any YouTube video into an interactive learning experience for your students. Google has added a new feature that lets you add questions throughout a YouTube video to keep your students' engaged and actively processing information. Once students within a class have completed the video activity, you will have access to a dashboard of key insights based on student engagement levels.

Here's how to get started:

  1. Create an Assignment.
    Enter the title and instructions.
    Under “Attach,” click YouTube

  2. To find a video, you can either:
    Search YouTube
Paste a YouTube URL in the search bar

  3. Once you have the correct video selected, continue by clicking "Add Questions" in the lower right.

  4. Start watching your video, and pause each time you want to ask a question. Add the question by choosing the question type (multiple choice, checkboxes or open-ended).

  5. Be sure to select the correct answers for the multiple choice and checkboxes type questions.

  6. When you are done, you can Try the assignment as a student or Attach the video.

You can use the “Resources” tab in the Classroom left navigation to find and manage all your video activities.

Note: Only teachers can create video activities. All students can complete video activities assigned through Google Classroom.
